Sunset Sailing

The Indian Ocean at the best hour of the day

Muhtasari

A private sail on the Indian Ocean as the light goes — flat water, a slow pace and the coastline turning gold behind you.

The last two hours of daylight are the best time to be on this ocean. The wind usually softens, the heat goes out of the day, and the light along the coast turns from white to gold to deep orange.

This is a private sail. The boat is yours, the pace is yours, and there is no schedule to keep beyond the sunset itself.

It is the simplest thing we offer and, for a lot of guests, the one they remember. It works as a quiet end to a busy week, and it works as an occasion — anniversaries, proposals, last nights. Tell us which it is when you book and we will arrange the evening accordingly.

  • Flat, soft-soled shoes or bare feet
  • A camera, if you want one
  • Anything you would like on board for a special occasion — tell us in advance

Taarifa muhimu

  • Exact departure and return times are confirmed in writing when your booking is confirmed. Timings on this coast follow the tide, the sea state and the day’s conditions rather than a fixed timetable.
  • Sunset time moves through the year, so the departure time moves with it. We confirm your time in writing when the booking is confirmed.
  • Sailing depends on wind and sea state. If conditions are not safe or not suitable we will say so and reschedule.
  • What is and is not included is restated on your booking confirmation. If anything here is unclear, ask us before you pay anything.

Maswali yanayoulizwa mara kwa mara

Is the boat private?
Yes. This trip is booked as a private charter, so the boat is yours for the evening.
Can you arrange something for a proposal or an anniversary?
Yes, and we would rather know in advance than be surprised. Tell us what you have in mind when you book and we will tell you honestly what we can and cannot arrange.
What if there is no wind?
The crew will tell you before you leave if conditions mean it will be a motor rather than a sail. If the evening will not be what you booked, we would rather move it than take your money.
